Triptych Video Installation Subverting the Role of the Irish Housewife
"A Feminist Revival of the Irish Language"
'Fliuch' - translating to wet - is a feminist revival of the Irish language, Gaeilge. The project culminates in a series of costumes, props and themes presented in three video pieces . Fliuch utilizes a queer and kink lens and methodology to subvert the image of the traditional, chaste Irish housewife. In doing so it offers sexual liberation to a traditionally oppressed group in Ireland, and advocates for an expanded view of Gaeilge as a language. Further, this project stood out as a critique against patriarchal systems in Design as a field.
